Kinja'd!!!

I done fuct up. I ordered 15 rotary encoders after what I thought was extensive research but I missed one little detail. Built in switch? Check. Multiple detents? Check. 6mm shaft? Check. Threaded for panel mounting? Uh, no. Shit.

Maybe I can get a die and thread them, otherwise I’ll either have to rig up a PCB or glue them in place. There has to be a better alternative than buying different ones at four times the cost.

EDIT: I found another supplier that has what I need for about 50% more. I guess this is what I get for ordering stuff at 4 in the morning.

I’m quite curious what you’re building with 15 rotary encoders?

If you are mounting them in close proximity, you can do a “PCB Express”thing.  That way you can solder/board mount them and use stand-offs and screws for the mount.   Depending on how you are using them, that could actually be easier to wire it.

Flight simulation radio/autopilot controller. I’m  trying to get away from using a mouse when flying for a slightly better sense of realism.

I’ll even throw in a lighter. But will they be disappointed when they don't have any stops?

Express PCB will do a short run of small cheap PCBs that you could mount your encoders to... if you are doing an array of them (assume you are with that many in the buy).

Much easier to wire. Solder the encoders to the PCB, then mount the whole assembly to your panel with stand-offs.

Not selling their services, but they’ve bailed my butt out on prototypes a lot...
